Obverse description A Mexican eagle displayed standing atop a cactus, wings raised, facing left, with a crown above its head. The date flanked by mint marks (·Mo·1769·Mo·) appears in the exergue below the central device. The circular legend SINE ME REGNA FATISC surrounds the eagle in the upper field, rendered in Latin capitals. The overall design is executed in low relief on a plain field, consistent with a copper pattern strike of the colonial period.
