| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a crowned shield of Anjou-Sicily, bearing three fleurs-de-lis arranged two and one, surmounted by an open royal crown rendered in Gothic style. The shield is framed within a raised inner circle with a beaded border. The surrounding Gothic uncial legend reads: RENATVS D G IhRLm E SICIL RE, identifying René as king of Jerusalem and Sicily by the grace of God. The die-work is characteristic of mid-fifteenth-century Provençal hammered coinage, with bold relief and irregular flan shaping. |

| Reverse description | Central field dominated by a prominent Cross of Jerusalem composed of a large central cross potent surrounded by four smaller crosslets, one in each quarter, all rendered in double-barred style consistent with the heraldic arms of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The cross is contained within a raised inner circle with beaded border. The circumscribed Gothic uncial legend reads: COmES PVICE ET FOCAQVERI, citing René's titles as Count of Provence and Forcalquier. The hammered flan is irregular and slightly double-struck in areas, typical of the period's artisanal minting. |
