| Reverse description | The central device consists of a floriated cross with a crowned H monogram — the royal cypher of Henry IV — at its centre, flanked by two small lis in the angles of the cross, with the mint mark of Poitiers (G) also present in the field. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads CHRISTVS REGNAT VINCIT ET IMPERAT, the traditional Christian royal motto affirming Christ's sovereignty, followed by the date 1603 and the mint letter 9 denoting Poitiers. The composition and layout are consistent with the standard demi-écu d'or au soleil type of the period. |
