Obverse description Central shield bearing the Medici arms (six roundels, five in sequence of 2-2-1 and one larger at chief), surmounted by the crossed keys of Saint Peter in saltire with a papal tiara above, all set within a beaded inner circle. The papal insignia is rendered in high relief characteristic of hammered coinage of the early sixteenth century. The circular legend runs along the coin's periphery, interrupted by a decorative stop, and references Clement VII's title and lordship of Piacenza.
