| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Frederick II (the Great) facing right, his hair elaborately styled and tied with a ribbon, rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner. The king's aged profile is rendered with fine engraved detail characteristic of the Berlin Mint. The surrounding legend reads FRIDERICUS BORUSSORUM REX (Frederick, King of the Prussians) in Roman capitals, running clockwise along the coin's periphery. |
