Obverse description The obverse features the celebrated 'La Semeuse' (The Sower) design by Louis-Oscar Roty, depicting a striding female figure in flowing classical robes scattering seeds with her right hand against a background of radiating sunrays and a stylized horizon line. The allegorical figure, representing the French Republic, strides purposefully to the left, her hair and drapery animated by the wind. The engraver's signature 'O. ROTY' appears in small letters beneath the figure at the lower center of the field. The circumferential legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE runs along the left and right periphery of the coin.
