Reverse description A large fleur-de-lis cross ornament dominates the central field, composed of four fleurs-de-lis arranged crosswise around a central crowned initial L, the royal monogram of Louis XIII. Small pellets or annulets punctuate the interstices between the arms of the cross. The date 1617 appears within the circular legend, which reads SIT. NOMEN. DOMINI. BENEDICTVM, translating as 'Blessed be the name of the Lord'. The design is enclosed by a beaded border, consistent with the hammered coinage style of the period.
