Reverse description The arms of Monaco — a lozengy shield of argent and gules — displayed prominently at center, surmounted by a princely crown. The shield bears the characteristic diagonal lozenge pattern of the Grimaldi family. The circumferential legend, interrupted by the date, records the prince's titles as Duke of Valentinois and Peer of France. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape associated with hammered production of the period.
