Reverse description A full-length figure of a Swiss Confederation soldier stands facing, dressed in traditional 16th-century mercenary costume comprising a plumed hat, ruffled collar, slashed doublet, and puffed breeches. He holds a tall halberd or pike in his right hand and rests his left hand upon a fasces leaning against his side. The date 1797 appears in the exergue below the figure's feet, while the legend DEUS PROVIDEBIT curves around the upper periphery. The milled border completes the composition.
