Obverse description The obverse features a three-line Latin inscription filling the central field, reading MONE / ECCLE / ELBV, an abbreviation for Moneta Ecclesiastica Elburgensis (Ecclesiastical Coinage of Elburg). The legend is rendered in bold, raised capital letters characteristic of early seventeenth-century hammered coinage. The inscription is framed within a wreath of laurel or olive branches tied at the top and bottom, encircling the entire field. A plain inner border separates the wreath from the coin's irregular edge. The overall composition is simple and functional, consistent with the municipal small copper coinage of the Dutch Republic period.
