Reverse description The arms of Elburg displayed centrally within a tulip wreath border: a city gate with crenellated towers depicted in a stylized, angular hammered manner, with a lion couchant within the gate passage. The heraldic device is rendered in bold relief with little fine detail, characteristic of small-denomination hammered copper coinage of this period. The wreath of tulip motifs encircles the shield device, filling the field to the coin's irregular edge.
