| Reverse description | The reverse bears a five-line inscription in bold raised Latin capital letters reading PROSIT / DAS / NEUE / IAHR (meaning 'A toast to the New Year'), a traditional New Year's greeting. The text fills the central field of the square klippe and is enclosed within a beaded inner border that follows the diamond orientation of the flan. The design is characteristic of the Neujahrsschaumünze (New Year's presentation piece) tradition common to South German municipal issues of the early eighteenth century. |
