Obverse description Two conjoined busts facing one another in three-quarter profile, the co-rulers Johann Christian (left) and Georg Rudolf (right) depicted in armour with ruffled collars and ducal crowns, the busts truncated at a horizontal line dividing the field. Below the line, two heraldic shields bearing the arms of Liegnitz and Brieg are displayed side by side within elaborate strapwork and foliate ornament. An orb surmounted by a cross appears above between the two crowned heads, with small floral sprigs filling the lateral fields. The overall composition reflects the Silesian Renaissance engraving style characteristic of early seventeenth-century hammered gold coinage.
