Obverse description The obverse displays the elaborate civic arms of Breslau (Wrocław), comprising a crowned imperial eagle above a quartered shield bearing the city's heraldic devices, all surmounted by a haloed bust of St. John the Baptist with crossed palm fronds and banners to either side. The shield is embellished with ornate baroque mantling, and the initial letter W appears prominently at the base of the composition. The date 1622 is divided on either side of the saint's bust in the upper field. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the circular Latin legend running along the outer periphery.
