Obverse description The interlaced royal cypher of Christian IV — the numeral 4 intertwined with the letter C — occupies the centre of the field in bold relief, rendered in an ornate early Baroque style. Above the monogram sits a large elaborate royal crown with arched bands and fleurs-de-lis finials, dominating the upper portion of the coin. The entire design is set within a plain field with a beaded border running along the rim. No legend is present; the monogram itself serves as the sole identifying device of the issuing monarch.
