Reverse description The ornate quartered electoral arms of the Palatinate displayed on an elaborate baroque cartouche, surmounted by a crested helmet with a lion passant as crest above. The shield displays the Palatinate lion and Bavarian lozenges in the principal quarters, with additional subsidiary arms, all rendered with fine engraving characteristic of late 17th-century German goldsmith work. The circular Latin legend DOMINVS PROVIDEBIT (The Lord will provide) runs around the periphery, with the date 1673 incorporated into the legend at the top of the reverse field. A fine toothed border frames the entire design.
