| Obverse description | Facing bust of the governor `Umar ibn al-`Ala rendered in Sasanian artistic tradition, head turned to the right, wearing a winged crown surmounted by a star and crescent finial. The patronymic inscription appears in Pahlavi script to the right of the bust and is repeated in Arabic in the outer marginal legend, enclosed within an extra outer circle. Crescents adorned with stars are positioned at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions in the field, following standard Arab-Sasanian decorative convention. |
