| Reverse description | Central Zoroastrian fire altar flanked by two standing attendant figures, each facing inward toward the altar with hands raised in the traditional gesture of reverence, rendered in the Sasanian artistic tradition inherited by Arab-Sasanian coinage. The altar and attendants are enclosed within a beaded double-ring border. Pahlavi legends flank the central device: at left hptwystst (Haftwist-sad) and at right tpwlst`n (Tabaristan, the mint province). Small floral or star-shaped ornaments appear in the outer margin at the cardinal points, a design element characteristic of Tabaristan hemidrachms of this period. |
