| Obverse description | Stylized bust of a Sasanian-type ruler facing right, depicted in the traditional late-Sasanian manner with an elaborate winged crown or mural crown surmounting the head. The portrait features characteristic schematic facial details including a pronounced eye, beard, and neck ornament rendered in the debased Arab-Sasanian style. Flanking marginal Arabic legends appear in the field to the left and right of the bust. The overall design is a simplified continuation of the Yazdegerd III-derived iconographic tradition as adapted by Abbasid governors of Tabaristan. |
