Obverse description Enthroned figure of the Madonna seated on clouds, holding the Christ Child to her right; the Virgin is depicted in flowing robes with the Infant raising his right hand in blessing. The central group is surrounded by a circle of six-pointed stars and enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The peripheral legend is separated from the central field by a beaded border, with the date and mint-master initials incorporated into the legend. The coin's milled edge and finely detailed Baroque relief reflect the high artistic standards of the Genoese mint.
