Reverse description The central device features a heraldic shield bearing seven five-pointed stars arranged in the upper chief and vertical pale stripes in the lower portion, surmounted by a Phrygian liberty cap on a staff. The shield is flanked by two decorative branches — a floral spray to the left and an olive or sugar cane sprig to the right — tied together with a ribbon bow at the base. The denomination HALF DOL. is inscribed along the lower rim, flanked by decorative star devices, while the legend CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA arcs around the upper periphery. The coin exhibits a reeded inner border visible along the rim.
