| Obverse description | A central view of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial dominates the obverse, depicting the colossal carved portraits of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln emerging from the granite face of the Black Hills. A radiant sunburst occupies the upper field behind the sculpted figures, lending a dramatic, patriotic character to the composition. The inscription LIBERTY and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST appear in the field, alongside the date 1991 and the legend MOUNT RUSHMORE. The design was sculpted by Marcel Jovine and rendered in a bold, high-relief artistic style befitting a commemorative issue. |
