Samoa has been a prolific issuer of licensed pop-culture coinage since the early 2010s, typically produced by the Bavarian State Mint or the New Zealand Mint under contract — neither of which is actually Samoan. These pieces circulate almost exclusively among themed collectors and never see actual use in Samoa.
The Harry Potter licensing agreement between Warner Bros. and various Pacific island minting programs produced dozens of individual character releases, each issued in near-identical specifications.
