Reverse description Full-color depiction of the Santa Maria, Christopher Columbus's flagship, sailing on turbulent seas against a dramatic sky rendered in a circular vignette with a dark blue-green background. The three-masted carrack is shown in fine detail with white sails bearing red crosses, flying pennants and flags from the masts. A ship's wheel motif appears to the left in the field. The legend SANTA MARIA arcs across the upper border in white lettering, and the date 1460 appears in the lower field, both set against a beaded inner border.
