Part of the ongoing "Porto" series issued through the New Zealand Mint, these small-format silver fractionals have proliferated across Pacific-nation licensees since the early 2010s — Solomon Islands among the most frequently used issuing authorities. The arrangement is entirely commercial; the Solomon Islands government licenses its name and legal tender status, with coins sold directly into the collector market and never intended for domestic circulation.

At 2.5 g of .999 silver, the actual bullion content is negligible. The piece exists purely as a numismatic product.
