The Cherubs series issued under the Solomon Islands licensing arrangement is a modern bullion-adjacent collectible rather than a coin with any meaningful monetary history. Solomon Islands has since the 1970s routinely licensed its sovereign name to foreign minting operations — principally European private mints — producing low-denomination face-value pieces that bear no relationship to actual circulation in Honiara.
The .999 silver plating over copper base is the detail that separates this from genuine silver issues, and it matters for long-term preservation: edge exposure and humidity will eventually breach the plating.
