| Obverse description | Draped bust of Liberty facing right, engraved by John Reich, with the inscription LIBERTY incuse on a headband within flowing hair. Thirteen six-pointed stars border the field, seven to the left and six to the right of the bust. The date 1812 appears in the exergue. A prominent fleur-de-lys counterstamp, applied by the Spanish Colonial authorities of Puerto Rico, is struck into the left-center field of the coin. A post-mint hole is present at the lower-left rim. |
