Additional information

Niue has operated as a prolific licensing platform for commemorative coinage since the 1990s, contracting designs to outside mints and collecting royalties while the New Zealand dollar remains the island's actual currency. The half dollar denomination here is functionally decorative — Niue issues no circulating coinage of its own.

Charles III ascended following the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022, making 2026 issues among the earliest to establish his effigy across the full breadth of licensed commemorative programs worldwide.
