Additional information

Apollo 17, launched in December 1972, remains the last crewed lunar mission — no humans have returned to the Moon since Gene Cernan stepped back into the lunar module on December 14th of that year. Silver-plated iron is worth noting practically: the base metal is vulnerable to rust if the plating is breached, making storage conditions more consequential than for solid silver issues.
