Reverse description Central field displays the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in bold Arabic script arranged in two principal lines, reading 'la ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah', enclosed within a decorative lobed or scalloped cartouche border. A dot or bead border runs along the inner edge of the coin periphery. The mint name al-Qahira (Cairo) and the regnal year appear in the marginal or subsidiary legend, consistent with standard Mamluk dirham types. The flan is irregular, showing typical characteristics of hammered production.
