Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Arabic Kufic inscription arranged in three lines reading 'Al-Imam / Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah / Amir al-Muminin' (The Imam / Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah / Commander of the Faithful). A marginal or secondary inscription in the field reads 'Abd Allah wa-waliyyuhu al-Mansur al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah,' affirming the caliph's full titulature and divine authority. The legends are characteristic of Fatimid Ismaili coinage, with angular Kufic script on a plain, unadorned field. No mint name or regnal year appears on this die. The overall style is consistent with hammered Fatimid silver issues of the late 4th to early 5th century AH.
