Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the heraldic bear of Bern passant to left occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with bold detailing on the fur and claws. Above the bear, a displayed imperial eagle with spread wings serves as a crowning device. The encircling Latin legend reads between the beaded border and the coin's rim, interrupted by punctuation marks and a cross at the top.
