Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of King Erik XIV facing right, wearing an elaborate closed crown and richly decorated plate armor with beaded ornamentation. The king holds a scepter diagonally across his body in his right hand and grasps an orb surmounted by a cross in his left, emblems of sovereign authority. The portrait is rendered in a bold Renaissance relief typical of mid-sixteenth-century Swedish coinage, with fine detailing on the armor and beard. The date 1561 appears in the lower field, flanked by star stops. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the royal Latin legend distributed around the periphery.
