Obverse description A rampant double-tailed lion facing left occupies the central field, holding by a cord a shield bearing the coat of arms of 's-Heerenberg. The heraldic lion is rendered in the bold, somewhat crude style characteristic of sixteenth-century hammered coinage from the Low Countries. A privy mark appears at the top of the field. The peripheral legend in Latin is separated by pellet or lozenge stops and runs around the entire coin.

Reverse description A crowned effigy of Saint Oswald, King and Martyr, depicted facing right and wearing an open crown, occupies the central field, dividing the denomination indication. The figure is shown in regal attire in the convention of saintly royal portraiture common to Low Countries ecclesiastical coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The legend, rendered in Latin, is enclosed between two concentric circles of lozenge or diamond ornaments that frame the entire design. The inscription references the silver content and monetary denomination of the piece.
