| Reverse description | Quartered royal shield of arms, crowned, displaying the arms of England (three leopards passant guardant), Scotland (lion rampant within double tressure flory-counterflory), France (three fleurs-de-lis), and Ireland (harp), arranged in the standard post-Union of Crowns quartering. The crowned shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend running around the periphery between beaded borders. The die workmanship is typical of the Edinburgh Mint's hammered gold output under James VI. |
