(Translation: George the Fifth by the Grace of God King of all the Britains)
Reverse description Central device comprising a crowned quartered shield of arms — bearing the arms of England, Scotland, and Ireland — encircled by the Garter band inscribed with the motto HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE. The divided date appears below the shield, flanked by the legend FID: DEF: IND: IMP: and the denomination HALF CROWN, all arranged around the periphery within a beaded border. On certain 1922 issues, the crown is noted to touch the top of the shield, an important diagnostic feature for variety attribution.
