Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King George III facing right, modelled in the neoclassical style after Benedetto Pistrucci's second portrait design. The king's hair is rendered in fine detail with a laurel wreath binding the locks, and drapery is visible at the truncation of the neck. The encircling legend reads GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA, with the date 1818 positioned in the exergue below the bust. A beaded border runs along the inner rim. The overall execution, being struck in copper, reflects the nature of this piece as a pattern or contemporary counterfeit rather than a standard silver issue.
