The East India Company — reconstituted as a luxury goods and commemorative coin issuer in 2013, over 150 years after its dissolution — has no historical connection to Napoleon or Austerlitz whatsoever. This piece capitalizes on the EIC brand's prestige without any authentic link to the subject it commemorates. Austerlitz, fought December 2, 1805, was arguably Napoleon's tactical masterpiece, destroying the combined Russo-Austrian force in under nine hours and directly forcing Austria out of the Third Coalition.
