Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic with fewer than 300 inhabitants, has no functional domestic coin economy — all currency issues are collector products licensed through the British Crown. This piece references Lydia, the ancient Anatolian kingdom credited with producing the world's first true coinage in electrum around the 7th century BC, under the Mermnad dynasty.
At 0.5 g of .9999 fine gold, the striking was almost certainly contracted through a private mint rather than the Royal Mint.
