Reverse description The reverse displays the Royalist Declaration in three horizontal lines within a rectangular panel with ruled borders: the mark of value '2 6' flanks a Shrewsbury plume above the upper border of the panel, while the date 1642 appears below the lower border. The Declaration text reads in abbreviated Latin across two lines within the panel. The circular Latin legend EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI surrounds the whole design within a beaded border, the irregular flan edges characteristic of hastily produced Civil War hammered coinage.
