Obverse description A Burgundian cross with ornate flared arms occupies the central field, its quadrants each bearing a crown. The entire design is rendered in the baroque style characteristic of Habsburg coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. A continuous Latin legend encircles the periphery, reading the full imperial and royal titles of Empress Maria Theresia. The inscription identifies her as Empress of the Romans and Queen of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia.
