| Additional information |
Korea's 1906 bronze series was issued under the terms of the First Japan-Korea Agreement of 1905, which stripped Seoul of its foreign policy autonomy and placed Japanese advisors inside the Korean Finance Ministry. The coinage reform that followed was effectively administered by Megata Tanetarō, the Japanese financial adviser who restructured the Korean monetary system to align it with Japanese imperial standards — displacing the earlier yang-based coinage entirely.
The Gwang Mu era ended in 1907 when Emperor Gojong was forced to abdicate, making this a short emission window. Full annexation came in 1910.
