| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail on the Imperial State Crown. The truncation of the bust is bare, with the engraver's initials 'PM' (Percy Metcalfe) visible at the lower right. The legend 'GEORGE VI' runs vertically along the left border and 'KING EMPEROR' along the right border, both in upright capital letters following the square format of the flan. |
