Obverse description The coat of arms of the Republic of Cyprus occupies the central field, depicting a dove of peace in flight carrying an olive branch, set within a heraldic shield and framed by olive branches tied at the base. The independence year 1960 appears below the dove within the shield. The trilingual legend CYPRUS · ΚΥΠΡΟΣ · KIBRIS arcs around the upper periphery in Latin and Greek script, separated by raised dots, while the date 1983 is inscribed along the lower rim.

Reverse description The denomination numeral 1/2 is rendered in large stylized figures at the centre of the field, superimposed over a naturalistic depiction of a Cyprus mouflon (Ovis orientalis ophion) amid decorative foliage and floral motifs. The design fills the entire dodecagonal flan with no encircling legend, giving the composition an artistic, relief-sculptured character.
