| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Sierra Leone occupies the central field, supported by two rampant lions flanking a shield charged with three torches above a mountain and wavy lines representing the sea. A palm tree rises behind each lion supporter, and a ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto UNITY FREEDOM JUSTICE. The fractional denomination numeral 1/2 appears above the arms in the upper field.
