Obverse description Crowned and draped bust of Nicolas de Gilley facing right, depicted in a late medieval heraldic style within a beaded inner circle. The effigy shows the baron wearing a laurel or ornamental crown, with long hair and robes visible below the neck. A Latin circular legend surrounds the portrait, reading the baron's name and title. The flan is irregular and the strike uneven, characteristic of hammered billon coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
