Obverse description Draped bust of Emperor Charles V facing left, crowned, set within a beaded inner circle. The effigy displays the characteristic portrait style of mid-16th century Burgundian coinage, with the imperial crown rendered in relief above the head. The surrounding Latin legend runs along the outer border of the flan, partially visible on this irregularly shaped hammered piece. The overall fabric is typical of small billon issues of the period, with a slightly rough, uneven flan surface consistent with hand-struck production.
