Obverse description Heart-shaped central void punched through the coin, created by cutting the center from a host silver coin. The remaining outer ring retains partial legends from the original host coin, with the visible characters IPPUS and D·G· readable along the upper arc of the obverse, indicating a Spanish colonial or European regal coinage origin. The surface displays characteristic wear and patina consistent with circulation use in the colonial Caribbean. The edge of the heart cutout is irregular, reflecting hand-cut production methods typical of the Martinique countermarked series.
