| Obverse description | Multi-line Persian and Georgian inscription occupying the entire field, rendered in a flowing naskh calligraphic hand. The legend records the joint names of the co-rulers Teimuraz II and Heraclius II (Erekle II), the AH date 1166 (and variants), and the mint name Tiflis (Tbilisi). The inscription is arranged in several horizontal registers across the coin's face, with the Georgian script elements interspersed among the Arabic/Persian characters. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, typical of hammered coinage of the period. |
