Obverse description Draped bust of Emperor Menelik II facing right, wearing an ornate embroidered crown. The emperor's effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the facial features, beard, and imperial regalia. A Ge'ez legend encircles the portrait, reading along the left and right periphery, with an additional inscription in the exergue below the bust. The beaded border frames the entire design.
